Step 1: buy cheap microfiber towels.
Step 2: wax car.
Step 3: remove wax from car with cheap microfiber towel.
Step 4: treat microfiber towel as a disposable item and use it to scrub down all the nasty bits under the hood, trunk, gas tank lid, and in the doors.
Step 5: throw microfiber towel away.
I used to use shop towels to do this, but now I’ve seen the light. $0.50 well spent.

I give it about one more wash until I’m on to single-use cashmere.

I’m okay with cheap microfibres (apparently Chinese ones on ebay or amazon are okay) for door shuts, wheels and engine bays but I don’t use them on paintwork for risk of micromarring the paintwork.
I’ve a large number of Gtechniq ZeroR 300gsm microfibres that last with a little care such as washing them in non bio detergent at 30 degrees Celsius (Though I now use microfibre towel wash), once they start to die, I use them for engines, etc...
Which reminds me, I've 50+ microfibres to wash this week.

I can’t keep using towels from Meguiars though, it’s not sustainable. I just kind of rationalize it because there’s already a coat or wax and I’m just removing the excess with the towel.

I wash my cars once a week for no other reason than it makes me happy.

It’s been 3 weeks and I’m going crazy. The days it’s been warm I’ve had no time and on weekends it’s been real cold and rain/ice. Can’t wait for this Sunday where it should all line up.

I can’t abide Meguiars.
Ye’, I’m too anal about things. It would cost me more to buy cheap disposable ones, I use between 10 and 25 per car wash.
